Parent Involvement TBO recognizes parents as their children's primary teacher in religious education and therefore welcomes their participation in the Religious School. Please ask your student's teacher how you can be of help with projects, snacks, activities and studies at home.
Homework Homework is often assigned in Religious and Hebrew School. Homework is assigned to your child with the expectation that the assignment/project will be completed. If class is missed it is your responsibility to contact your child's teacher.
Student Evaluations Progress reports are sent home by the teacher mid-year and again at the end of the school year.
Behavioral Expectations We at Temple Beth Or hold all students with unconditional positive regard and believe that all students can learn. We use enthusiasm for the children and the curriculum to motivate students and to encourage life-long Jewish learning. We consider all incidents of inappropriate behavior opportunities for learning. Should some behaviors interfere with the learning environment in the classroom, the teacher will implement a systematic plan for addressing the inappropriate behavior. Students are expected to attend every class session. In the event of absence, the student's teacher should be contacted for information about the missed class.
Student Responsibilities The expectations we have for our students are based on kavod (respect) for: self and others, learning, property, and safety.
Single Religion Education We strongly encourage member families to provide their children formal religious education solely in Judaism.
Registration And Tuition Registration is open to children of members in good standing of the congregation only. Tuition is payable in full at the time of school registration unless other arrangements have been made with the Treasurer. If a student withdraws before the half way point of the school year, 40% of that student's tuition will be refunded. Those families unable to pay the full cost of Religious School should contact the TBO treasurer to apply for a scholarship. All scholarship applications will be handled confidentially.
Dismissal/Pick-up At the end of each session, a parent or other pre-authorized adult will pick up all 2nd grade and younger students at their classroom, and pick up 3rd grade and older students from the Temple building.
Guests Guests may only attend classes if the teacher has been notified and given approval prior to the date of the class.
